About the Boat

This is Awesome!

Awesome One is a 1993 Malcolm Tennant design.  She is the first of eight Awesomes built in New Zealand and designed to run non-stop from New Zealand to Fiji.  She is 68′ long and 25′ wide with a draft of 5′.  Awesome is powered by twin 420 hp Yanmars.  Her long narrow semi-displacement hulls allow her to cruise economically at 18 knots and to bridge most chop at sea.  At cruising speed she has a range of approximately 1,600 miles and she carries 2,000 gallons of diesel.  At trawling speeds of 6-9 knots she has up to 3000 miles of range. Top speed is 24 knots.

Main salon

Summertime galley feast

Awesome has a large central salon with galley up. Her starboard hull is a dedicated owners’ suite and she has two guest cabins to port.  Her twin helms and fully enclosed flybridge make her a very comfortable fast passagemaker.

Awesome is a veteran of both the Pacific and the Atlantic having voyaged from New Zealand through Panama on her own bottom.  She has explored much of the East Coast, Great Loop, Caribbean and South America.  She was brought back to the Pacific and up the West Coast for a refit and complete paint 2016 and made ready for many more years at sea.
